A full year of adventures, traditions, and memories for scouts and families.
Capture the Flag
Kick off the scouting year with a pack-wide game of Capture the Flag. Scouts from all dens come together to reconnect with friends, welcome new scouts, and fire up their competitive spirit heading into the year ahead.
Pack 149's annual fundraiser supports the pack program throughout the year. Scouts learn salesmanship and goal-setting while raising funds for activities, equipment, and campouts. Prizes are awarded based on sales totals.
Physical Challenge
New family recruitment night combined with a fitness challenge for returning scouts. Prospective families learn what Pack 149 is all about while current scouts test their strength, speed, and agility in a fun competition.
Every new scout's first milestone. The Bobcat ceremony celebrates scouts who have completed the Bobcat Adventure, their introduction to the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and the spirit of Scouting. A proud moment for scouts and families alike.
Formerly Webelos Woods
An overnight campout exclusively for 4th and 5th grade scouts. Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts camp alongside Scouts BSA troops, building outdoor skills and getting a real preview of what is waiting for them after Cub Scouts.
The whole pack heads outdoors for an overnight family camping experience. Scouts and families set up camp, cook outdoors, explore trails, and spend a night under the Texas stars together. One of the most anticipated events of the year.
One of Pack 149's most beloved traditions. Scouts put on their entrepreneur hats and create homemade snacks, toys, crafts, and products to sell to each other in a festive holiday market setting. A fun send-off before winter break that builds creativity, confidence, and community spirit.
The highlight of the scouting year. The whole pack gathers as 5th grade Arrow of Light scouts earn their final Cub Scout rank and ceremonially cross a bridge into a Scouts BSA troop, beginning the next chapter of their Scouting journey. An emotional and memorable milestone for the entire pack community.
The most anticipated event of the year. Scouts design, build, and race their own wooden cars down a regulation track. Competition heats, trophies, and plenty of family cheering make this a Pack 149 classic. The engineering and creativity scouts bring to their cars never disappoints.
Bear scouts spend the night at Space Center Houston, the official NASA visitor center for Johnson Space Center. Scouts sleep among historic spacecraft and rockets, explore mission control exhibits, and take part in hands-on STEM activities inspired by real space exploration. An unforgettable experience that connects scouting values to the frontier of human discovery.
A dedicated overnight campout for 4th grade Webelos scouts. With Arrow of Light on the horizon, this campout focuses on outdoor skills, teamwork, and preparing scouts for the challenges ahead in their final Cub Scout year.
Pack 149 scouts spend the night aboard the USS Lexington, a World War II aircraft carrier and museum ship permanently docked in Corpus Christi, Texas. Known as "The Blue Ghost," the ship hosted overnight programs where scouts sleep in authentic Navy bunks on the hangar deck, tour the flight deck, explore historic aircraft, and learn about the carrier's storied wartime history. A truly one-of-a-kind adventure that brings history to life.
The pack's annual awards banquet celebrating another year of achievements. Rank advancements, adventure badges, and special recognitions are presented in a festive setting with the whole pack community gathered together.
A pack-wide skills competition to close out the program year. Scouts are tested on what they have learned: navigation, knots, outdoor skills, teamwork, and more. A fun send-off that celebrates the growth scouts have made over the course of the year.
Scouts build and race rubber-band-powered rocket ships along a suspended track. A creative, science-inspired sibling to the Pinewood Derby that sends the scouting year out with a blast.
Scouts bring their bikes for a summer day of cycling skills, safety practice, and obstacle courses. A low-key, active event the whole family enjoys to round out the summer before the new scouting year begins.
